Results from our event yesterday. It was lovely and windy but the sun shone all day! Wind speed was in the 15mph range coming straight down the course so A-B legs took no time at all and B to A took a while especially the last ones
Dynamic Simon flew well to take the Dynamic league after 3 events. Hopefully we will see more competition next year. The wind isn't kind to these models on the 150m course so thinking about dropping that to 75-100m. Need to run some tests with it over the winter. Tony, Steve and Joe also tried their hand at the Dynamic class but the top legs of 14 was Simon's. Joe decided to show everyone how it should be done and had numerous safety infringements followed by an incredible crash after doing a dive!!! He suddenly found out that these foamies don't have much elevator authority at speed.... Bit of an expensive day for models yesterday as you will find out.
Darron R (F5D normally) showed up for his first F5B event flying a RW2B modified to take a lipo. He had a good trial flight as the plane had never flown before. Then produced a solid 26 legs doing only LEFT turns. Unfortunately during the duration task the plane tip stalled into the runway. Hopefully he will be back to fight again. Tony had an incident on the first F5B round where the wipers on the V tail came out. He thought those were fixed for Rd2 and on initial climb out lost all elevator control. Resulting in a very bent airframe.
Mark, Joe and Alan had a good fight for top spot. Trading top scores with sometimes 1 point in it. Joe unfortunately ..... ..... limited on his 2nd round which put the pressure on for the next 2 rounds. Round 3 he flew very nicely and while Alan missed the 30 points he sailed straight in for them. Pressure for Round 4 then as Mark needed to beat Joe to maintain 3rd in the UK League scores. Alan flew first putting in 45 legs with a solid duration. Joe suffered a technical gremlin at the end of the legs when he wanted to climb for duration. Not sure what the problem was yet but nothing smoked this time. Mark flew another solid round with 43 legs. Dick and George were also trading scores throughout the day with George emerging as the winner of their battle.
Event finished with Alan, Mark, Joe in the top 3 places.
Bring on the next event....
